Both Congress, Left responsible for price hike: BSP
Kochi, Feb 18 (UNI) The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) today held both the Congress and the CPM responsible for the rise in prices and called upon the Congress-led UDF to withdraw its 'hartal' call in Kerala tomorrow.
In a statement here, Suresh Mane, National General Secretary of the BSP and co-ordinator of Kerala and Tamil Nadu, urged both the CPM-led LDF and the UDF to desist from their political gimmicks of conducting 'bandhs' and 'hartals.' He said the CPM, which heads the Kerala Government and also supports the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre, could not wash its hands off from the present price hike.
There was also no point in the UDF calling a 'hartal' for tomorrow since the policies followed by the UPA Government were primarily responsible for the price rise, he said.
''The wrong policies of the UPA government have resulted in farmers' miserable conditions and suicides and adversely affected the public distribution system, which is the prime source of rural economy in Kerala,'' he said.
