Advocates in Chennai to boycott courts on Feb 18

Chennai, Feb 14 (UNI) Members of the Madras High Court Advocates Association (MHAA) today decided to boycott courts for a day on February 18 to press their demands.

A decision to this effect was taken at the general body meeting of the association chaired by its president Paul Kanagaraj.

They were demanding among others things, hike in advocate welfare fund from the present Rs two lakh to Rs five lakh and prevent harassment of advocates at the hands of police and senior judicial officers.

Mr Kanagaraj said the advocates would boycott courts all over the state on that day.
