BJP wants Mayawati's income tax details to be made public

Lucknow, Feb 13 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party in Uttar Pradesh today repeated its demand to make public the income tax details of Chief Minister Mayawati.

Reiterating the demand, the BJP state President Ramapati Ram Tripathi told newsmen that the UP Chief Minister had paid advance tax to the tune of Rs 18 crore. ''The BJP wants the income of Ms Mayawati to be made public in the larger interest of society,'' he said.

Ridiculing the claim of the Bahujan Samj Party leader that her income mainly consisted of donations of partymen, Mr Tripathi said it was to be testified if the money really belonged to her or she had recycled the money obtained through unfair means.

Coming down heavily on the alleged corrupt practices the BSP government had been involved in, the BJP state President said that Ms Mayawati had made a mockery of her claim that her government was following the principle of 'Sarvajan Hitaya (Wefare for All)'.

''In fact she is pursuing the goal of ''Swayam Hitaya (Welfare for Self)',''he said.

Dubbing the Mayawati government a 'failure' on all fronts, Mr Tripathi said the BSP regime had badly exposed itself while failing in its duty to take up pro-people decisions. ''The people of the state are a disillusioned lot and the coming Lok Sabha poll results would be an eye-opener for the BSP leader,'' he said.
