2 prisoners lodged in Bangladesh jails handed over to India

Malda, Feb 13 (UNI) The Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) has handed over two prisoners serving various sentences in the country's jails to the Border Security Force (BSF).

Official sources said here today that as per the prisoners exchange agreement, the BDR's 49th batallion handed over Narayan Kundu and Abdul Rahim Sheikh, both residents of Malda district, to the BSF's 123rd batallion.

Narayan Kundu was serving a life imprisonment for illegaly crossing over to Bangladesh and had completed ten years of his sentence while Abdul Rahim Sheikh was arrested for staying in the country after the expiry of his visa and had completed seven months of his sentence.

Colonel J C Nayak said the duo would be sent back home tomorrow after completion of the official formalities.
