Intruder robs woman at knife point decamps with jewellery

Chennai, Feb 11 (UNI) A person, claiming to be a bubble-top Mineral water supplier, held a 55-year-old woman at knife point, and decamped with 45 sovereigns of jewellery at suburban Injambakkam on the East Coast Road last night.

Police said the woman, Santha, wife of a businessman, was alone at the house when the incident occurred around 2100 hrs.

As he knocked at the door and said he had come to replace the mineral water can, the woman opened the door. Immediately the person look out a knife and threatened her.

When she tried to raise an alarm, he gagged her, relieved her of the jewels and emptied the almirah where the jewelleries were kept.

The person locked her inside a room and decamped with the booty.

The woman's husband, who owns a paint manufacturing factory, lodged a complaint with theNeelangarai police.
