Assam govt orders probe into NE TV firing incident
Guwahati, Feb 11 (UNI) The Assam government today ordered an enquiry into the firing on NE TV CMD Manoranjan Singh in Rehabari area here.
Additional Chief Secretary Parul Devi Das will conduct the enquiry and submit the report within seven days.
Meanwhile, government spokesperson and Cabinet Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma informed that two FIRs have been filed in this regard.
Unidentified miscreants had fired from a black Tata Sumo vehicle yesterday, when Mr Singh's car was stopped at a police check point in Rehabari area at about 0230 hours.
No one was injured in the firing, though some bullets had hit nearby houses.
Dr Sharma said while one FIR was filed by the police sub-inspector on duty at the check point stating that the police was targeted, Mr Singh's PSO had filed another complaint claiming that they were targeted.
