Woman died, two injured and six houses damaged in Kashmir avalanches

Srinagar Feb 10(UNI) A woman was killed, two others injured and six houses were damaged overnight in avalanches in the Kashmir valley, official sources said.

They said a woman was killed when she was buried alive under a huge avalanche at Nayal, Gurez, in north Kashmir.

Later, her body was recovered by joint rescue teams of police and the Army, they said.

They said two people were injured when a huge avalanche buried six houses and an another structure at Tulail in north Kashmir. The injured were admitted to a hospital, they said adding the other villagers were shifted to safer places fearing more avalanches in the area, which received more than ten feet of snowfall.
