SC rejects PIL seeking closure of pvt edu inst in Lal Dora areas
New Delhi, Feb 10 (UNI) The Supreme Court has dismissed a petition seeking closure of private educational institutions including professionasl colleges from Lal Dora areas in Delhi.
A Bench, comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and R V Raveendran dismissed the petitiom filed by Mr Atul Kumar Gupta, who contended before the bench that commercial activities in Lal Dora areas of the capital are not permitted under law.
He argued that not only these private colleges which were only teaching shops had been allowed to operate from these areas but even the land-users had been chased by the authorities to legalise what was illegal.
The court, however, was not convinced of the bonafides of the petitioner and refuse to entertain the same saying that the petition seemed to have been filed with some oblique motive under the guise of Public Interest Litigation.
