Galaxy of leaders to address third front rally in UP
Lucknow, Feb 5(UNI) United National Progressive Allianace(UNPA), the emerging third front in the country, will launch their parliament election campaign on February 18, from Etawah in Uttar Pradesh, the native place of Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav.
All the leaders of the constituents of the UNPA including Chandra Babu Naidu, Om Prakash Chautala, Farrukh Abdullah and Mr Yadav will be the key speakers in the public rally.
The decision to hold the UNPA public rally was taken in the meeting of a high level state committee of the Samajwadi Party chaired by party president Mulayam Singh Yadav.
The party has also decided to hold peaceful demonstration in front of all sugar mills in the state on February 12 to demand payment of the canefarmers arears while on Februrary 25, a dharna programme would be held at all the district headquarters for lifting ban on the students union elections and withdrawal of fake criminal cases against the student leaders.
Addressing a press conference here, party state working president Shivpal Singh Yadav said the UNPA rally would launch the campainging of the third front for the Lok Sabha polls which will be held in next one year.
He said that the rally would also disclose the corrupt practises of the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP) government in the state as well as of the UPA government of the centre.
The SP leader said during the agitational programme, the party leaders would oppose the proposed Ganga Expresssway and the Value Added Tax(VAT) implemented in the state. While the Expressway would render the farmers and youths unemployed and homeless, the VAT had already hiked the prices of essential commodites, he claimed.
Meanwhile, Mr Dinesh Singh a former Congress MLA from Lakhimpur Kheri, former BSP MLA from Allahabad Jawahar Lal Diwakar and Mr Anisur Rahman, member zila panchayat Moradabad today joined the Samajwadi Party.
