Monk's death case: bail plea of accused rejected
Mumbai, Feb 4 (UNI) A local court today rejected the bail applications of four people who were arrested in connection with the suspected murder of a Buddhist monk here on January 6.
The four -- A Lakdawala, Dr Vivek Kolekar, Arun Kamble and Manohar Jadhav -- had moved for bail on the grounds that the investigation was completed and they were ready to cooperate with investigating agency.
After hearing the argument of both the sides at length, additional sessions judge K P Joshi rejected the bail applications.
The court, while rejecting the bail applications, observed that prima facie there was a case against the accused, and considering the seriousness of the case, the accused persons cannot be released on bail untill the chargesheet was filed.
It may be recalled that the police had registered a murder case against the four for their alleged involvement in the mysterious death of a Buddhist monk, Buddha Bhante Bhadhant Sanghraj.
The 75-year-old monk was found hanging from the ceiling of his home at Gautam Nagar in Deonar here. The complainant, Nandbodhi Boddha, had accused them of murdering the monk.
