Five masked men rob Rs 5 lakh from Andhra Bank in Karnataka

Bangalore, Feb 4 (UNI) In a daring daylight robbery, five masked men robbed Rs 5 lakh from an Andhra Bank branch at Rajarajeshwari Nagar here today.

They made away with the booty, assaulting the Manager and another employee of the bank, police said.

The culprits, in the age group of 20 to 25 conversing in Hindi, entered the bank during lunch hour and threatened the Manager to hand over the keys of the safe. On his refusal, they assaulted him with a lethal weapon to part with the cash.

As it was lunch time, most of the staff had gone out and only a few were in the bank when the incident took place.

Joint Commissioner (Crime) Gopal Hosur rushed to the bank for investigation. A dog squad and finger print experts were also pressed into service.

According to police, the exact amount robbed by the culprits was yet to be ascertained as the miscreants had taken away Rs 500 bundles.
