Two children die as pipe water contaminated in Orissa village
Bolangir, Feb 3 (UNI) The local authorities today supplied water tanks and asked the villagers not to use the pipe water after two children died and 35 people admitted to various hospitals consuming contaminated water at Sindhekela village yesterday.
Bolangir Chief Medical Officer Ananta Charan Nayak said 30 people were admitted to hospital at Titilagarh and five at Sindhekela after they complained of acute pain in their stomach.
The CDMO said four out of the 30 admitted at Titilagarha were shifted to VSS Medical College and Hospital at Burla as their condition deteriorated.
He said while one child died in the village the other died on the way to the hospital.
All other patients at Titilagarh and Sindhekela were discharged from the hospital yesterday.
As a precautionary measure the water sources in the area had been chlorinated and people were advised not to use the contaminated water, the CDMO said.
