Yet another success for police in south Kashmir, top HM ultra nabbed
Srinagar Jan 31 (UNI) Police in south Kashmir achieved yet another major success after killing four top militants of Hizbul Mujideen (HM) yesterday when they arrested a most wanted ultra along with his associate of the same outfit today.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Pulwama, said police arrested a dreaded HM militant Rameez Ahmad Ganie alias Aaqib from Zainapora area in Pulwama district.
One AK 56 rifle, and two magazines were recovered from his possession.
He said Aaqib was a dreaded and most wanted militant in many cases of militancy, including murder of innocent civilians.
The SSP said in 2003, he murdered a civilian Ghulam Rasool Dar.
However, after his arrest Aquib was granted interim bail on October 15 last for 10 days, when his mother applied to the Sessions Court that she was seriously ill and needed immediate medical treatment.
Later, he joined Al-Badr but later joined HM and was since active in south Kashmir.
