Fast Track Court Order in Dr Prakash Case on Feb 6

Chennai, Jan 29 (UNI)A Fast Track Court here will deliver judgment on February 6, in the sensational Dr Prakash Case in which the orthopaedic surgeon was charged with taking obscene pictures and posting them on the internet.

Arrested in Decemebr 2001 for taking obscene photographs of his women patients through hidden cameras and posting them on internet through his US-based brother, Dr Prakash was charged under various provisions of the IPC, Information Technology Act, Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.

Fast Track Court Judge R Radha today heard the final arguments by the prosecution and the defence and adjourned the matter to February 6 for judgement.

Dr Prakash has been in jail for more than six years and Madras High Court dismissed his bail plea for the sixth time yesterday.

He was arrested under Section 67 of Information and Technology Act, Section 27 of Arms Act and Section 4 and 6 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1996 and Sections 120-B and 506 of the IPC.

After his arrest in another case in January 2002, the police included Sections 5 and 6 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and Section 307 of IPC.He was also detained under Goondas Act for one year in 2002.
