Seven injured in clash over flag hoisting

Shivpuri, MP, Jan 27 (UNI) Seven people were injured in a clash between two groups over flag hoisting at Thesbara village, about 40 km here, in this district on the occasion of Republic Day, police said today.

Shivkumar Dhakad and Mastram Dhakad received gunshots and were seriously injured and sent to Gwalior for treatment. Five others were injured in stone pelting and were discharged after primary treatment.

There was political enmity between sarpanch Shardabai Dhakad and former sarpanch Babulal Dhakad from a long time. Both sides had an argument recently over putting up a 'gumti' on government land.

The two sides confronted each other when Babulal Dhakad objected to Shardabai Dhakad hoisting the flag yesterday.

A case was registered against 19 accused. One accused has been arrested in this connection thus far. Additional police security has been deployed as a precautionary measure.
