Senior citizen convicted for holding 2 govt jobs simultaneously
Mumbai, Jan 23 (UNI) A sessions court here has convicted a senior citizen, who had held two government jobs simultaneously.
The court sentenced Motilal Yadav yesterday to six months of imprisonment and levied a fine of Rs 5,000 on him under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the prevention of Corruption Act.
According to the prosecution, Yadav was working with the Western Railway and after six years, he got a job in (MTNL) Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd.
However, despite getting a job there, he kept working at both the places in different shifts.
When his fraud was brought to notice in the two departments, he was suspended from MTNL.
A complain was also made against him and he was arrested.
After his arrest, he was facing the trial and was convicted after ten years.
Sessions court judge U D Salvi, while convicting him accepted the request of the defence that considering his age he should be given lesser punishment.
