Sanction for second phase of Married Accomodation Project sought
New Delhi, Jan 22 (UNI) Defence Minister A K Antony today said his Ministry would seek approval for the second phase of the Married Accomodation Project (MAP) to meet the shortfall of living quarters for soldiers, serving away from their families.
''The government will work on a war footing for the project,'' he told mediapersons here.
On the shortage of officers in the Armed forces, Mr Antony admitted currently children have many options in today's world and the pay offered in the private sector is much better.
However, the Minister expressed hope that the Sixth Pay Commission would remedy many of these shortcomings.
''It is the first time the three services have presented a unified proposal,'' he said, expressing optimism they would get a better deal.
