Health of over 18,000 children examined in UT
Chandigarh, Jan 22 (UNI) Under the Integrated Child Development Services Scheme of Chandigarh Administration, health of as many as 18,712 children in 328 Anganwaris have been examined during the current financial year.
An official release issued here today stated that the medical examination conducted under the supervision of two Medical Officers along with paramedical staff laid emphasis on immunisation status, health check up of children under the age of six years, antenatal care of expectant mothers, post natal care of nursing mothers, recording of weight, management of under-nutrition and treatment of minor ailments.
Departments of Social Welfare and Health, for the further intensification of the endeavour, have engaged ten doctors who apart from rendering clinical examination will cover the issues such as infant feeding, family planning, sanitation, utilisation of health services etc.
These health teams will further ensure that the sick or under-nourished children, those with disabilities and other children requiring medical attention are duly referred to the nearest dispensary or health centre for the specialised required services.
