Pak to buy equipment to detect suicide bombers

Islamabad, Jan 15 (UNI) Pakistan will purchase technical equipment to detect suicide bombers.

Interior Minister Lt Gen (Retd) Hamid Nawaz Khan said today, ''The government will purchase technical equipment, like scanners, to detect suiciders with explosive material.'' ''We are negotiating with Chinese and some other international firms for purchase of such equipment,'' the Associated Press of Pakistan quoted him as saying.

He added that the apparatus would be installed at entry and exit points in all major cities.

Answering to a question, he said the law enforcement agencies have arrested eight terrorists with 67 kg explosive materials, including three shells weighing 10 kg each from Mianwali and Sargodha.

Without disclosing the names of the perpetrators of suicide attacks near Hamza Camp in Rawalpindi, Kamra Cantt, Karachi and Sargodha, he said they were arrested and would soon be produced before the court.
