2nd phase of ''Spirit of Independent India'' exhibition tomorrow
New Delhi, Jan 14 (UNI) The second phase of the Exhibition 'Spirit of Independent India' gets under way at the AIFACS Art Gallery here tomorrow.
Organised as part of the celebration of the 60 years of independence, the exhibition has award-winning photographs of the 20th National Photo Contest, besides other select photos from the contest.
A total of 111 photographs have been displayed in the exhibition, showing the unique moments of the spirit of the people of independent India.
Vivek Desai of Ahmedabad who is the winner of the first prize for both the black and white as well as colour section has presented the Spirit of Independent India with his fantastic idea of bringing the computer science among the women workers simultaneously attached to the spinning of the thread.
His other picture (colour) is a moment of happiness and joy from a festival and captures a unique spirit of the feeling of the people.
The award winning photographs by Aniruddha Pal of Kolkata, Girish J Kinger from Indore, Supriya Biswas from Kolkata and Upendra Upadhyay from Indore, besides other select photographs from the contest, are on display.
As many as 1157 photographs from 294 photographers of 17 States were recived for the contest while the jury comprised Sondeep Shankar, National Editor of 'The Hindustan Times' Delhi, Hoshi Jal, Photo Editor of 'Times of India' group, Mumbai, and Virender Prabhakar, former Chief Photographer of 'Hindustan'.
The exhibition will be on till January 21.
