Team arrives to assess flood damage in TN
Chennai, Jan 10 (UNI) A nine-member Central Flood Relief Committee today arrived here on a three-day visit to assess the damaged caused by the rains in Tamil Nadu.
Talking to newspersons at the airport, State Revenue Secretary, Ambuj Sharma said nine members would be divided into three teams, to visit the flood-hit areas in the state to assess the damage caused by recent rains.
Mr Sharma said the first team, headed by Senior Researcher of Planning Commission Muralidharan, would visit Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Villupuram and Cuddalore districts of the state while the second team, headed by the Director of Expenditure Alok Shankara, would go to Nagapattinam and Tiruvarur.
The third team, headed by Home Secretary Dinesh Singh, would visit Tirchirapalli and Madurai, he added.
He said after assessing the damage, the three teams would discuss with the State Government on January 12. The final report was expected to emerge only when they reach Delhi, he added.
