Swami Prasad Maurya, new BSP president in UP
Lucknow, Jan 9(UNI) Uttar Pradesh cooperative minister Swami Prasad Maurya has been appointed the new president of the Uttar Pradesh unit of Bahujan Samaj Party.
Mr Maurya, member of the state legislative council and the Cooperative Minister, will replace Mr Narendra Singh Patel.
Announcing the decision, BSP supremo and chief minister Mayawati here today said the name of Mr Maurya was decided in the meeting of the party MP, MLAs and senior leaders here this afternoon.
She said that Mr Maurya has been selected to head the party in the state as he is popular in all the district.
Ms Mayawati, however, clarified that there would be no change in the state working committee of the party.
