Lawyers boycott courts in protest against lathicharge in Ajmer
Jaipur, Jan 9 (UNI) Lawyers in Rajasthan today boycotted court work in protest against the police action on the members of their faternity in Ajmer.
Court work came to a grinding halt, including the Rajasthan High court in Jodhopur and Jaipur and subordinate courts in others parts of the state as the lawyers boycott work causing inconvenience to the litigants. The lawyers were protesting against the police action on the lawyers in Ajmer two days ago.
The police action on lawyers in Ajmer followed after the lawyers demostration, in support of the demand for the withdrawal of an assault case against Ajmer Municipal council chairman Dharmendra Gehlot, turned violent. Dharmendra Gehlot is also a lawyer by profession.
About 30 people were injured in the incident and the Rajasthan government has trasffered the Superintendent of Police, Ajmer S Sangathir following the incident.
