GOPIO suggests mechanism to attract flow of fund for education

New Delhi, Jan 8 (UNI) The Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) has urged the Indian government to create a mechanism to facilitate flow of resources from the Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and People of Indian Origin (PIOs) to serve the education needs of the children here.

In a resolution adopted at its two-day meet here on Sunday, the organisation, which serves the 25 million strong Indian Diaspora, said there was a more cooperative environment from the government agencies in India for the NRIs/PIOs to venture into the education sector through a public-private partnership arrangements.

It asked the government to implement effectively 83rd Constitution amendment making education a fundamental right for school age (6-14 years) children.

Expressing regret over the lack of health services to children, the resolution asked the government agencies to create a procedure where schools could take advantage of the services rendered by the health services in a cooperative manner.

The discussion at the two-day meet revolved around Education for the Masses in India : Role of NRIs/PIOs.
