Rs 11.8 cr earmarked for promotion of tourism in Kutch
Ahmedabad, Jan 6 (UNI) The Gujarat government has earmarked a Rs 11.8 crore to promote tourism in the border district of Kutch.
The government organises a 'Kutch Festival' every year, which has become very popular in the country and abroad. This year, it will be held from February 20 to 22.
According to sources at Gujarat Tourism Corporation (GTC), the government intends to develop Perun near Kala Dungar (black hill) a permanent tourist spot. For this, the corporation has undertaken a project of architectural designing and landscape development. The fund will be used to provide infrastructural facilities for the visitors.
Soon after taking over as chief minister for the third time, Narendra Modi, while opening a pharmacy college at Bidada in Kutch, promised to make genuine efforts to promote tourism in the district.
This year's annual Kutch festival will have three-day programme including a visit to famous Narayan Sarovar, white desert (where salt is spread for miles in natural form) and a night out in desert.
On the concluding day of the festival, there will be a Kutch Carnival in Bhuj.
