PM urged to make November one Pondy Independence Day

Puducherry, Jan 5 (UNI) The French India Viduthalai Kaala Makkal Narppani Iyyakkam today urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to direct the Puducherry administration to celebrate November one as Independence Day of Puducherry.

Iyyakkam President D Sivaraj told newspersons here that it had sent a fax to the Prime Minister in this regard.

He said they proposed to send 5,000 fax messages to the Prime Minister, listing their demands, which included pension to the people who opted for Indian citizenship at the time of merger of Puducherry with the Indian union.
