Bangladeshis are happiest in world: Film Director
Bangalore, Jan 4 (UNI) Bangladesh is one of the countries with the happiest people in the world and the people living there are more satisfied with their life, renowned Bangladeshi Film Director Golam Rabanny Biplab said today.
Talking to newspersons on the sidelines of the second 'Bengalooru International Film Festival', which began here yesterday, he said ''in Bangladesh only educated people are corrupt and the rural people are not corrupted, despite the natural calamities that strike the country frequently.'' He said as per the UN survey report, Bangladesh was the fifth country in the world with the happiest people. ''From then, I wanted to tell the world about it through film and it was accomplished only last year, when I completed my maiden venture 'On the Wings of Dream'.
'On the Wings of Dream', which would be screened tomorrow in the film festival, had already been showcased in 20 international film festivals. Though the film did not do well in the theatre, it bagged two international awards, including the 'Silver Peacock' at the International Film Festival of India in Goa and the Best Director Award at the Shanghai Film Festival for the Asian New Talent. The film was an official entry for Oscar from Bangladesh.
Mr Biplab, who is also the Secretary General of International Federation of Film Society, said, ''I am the happiest man since my debut film has got world acclaim.'' To a question, he said, ''though in my film the greed leads to unhappiness, it sends a message that people of Bangladesh are the happiest unless they are greedy.'' He said his next film would be based on his country's philosophy and struggling nature of the people there.
