Rupnagar, Jan 3 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal working president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said that the state government was actively considering moving Supreme Court against granting of tax holiday for industries in Himachal Pradesh by the centre.
While talking to mediapersons here, Mr Badal said that there should not be any discrimination over grant of concessions to the industries like tax holidays by the centre.
He said the industrialisation in Punjab had been adversely affected due to the concessions granted to the industries in the neighbouring hill state.
There should not be any tax holiday for industries in Himachal Pradesh or Punjab should also be given such concessions as it is a border and a land-locked state having similar problems like that of Himachal Pradesh, he added.
Akali Dal working president said that the year 2008 would be the year of development in the state. He said during the last 10 months, various development projects had been planned and every month this year, new project will be started.
''The face of the state will be changed within two years after the completion of these projects'', he said.
The work for preparing the master plans for the planned growth of the cities of the state will be completed soon, he said.
In his reply to a query, Mr Badal said that Rupnagar will be accorded the status of divisional headquarter soon.
After the completion of the four-laning of the National Highway 21, the proximity of Roopnagar will be about half-an-hour-run from Chandigarh which will result in large-scale development, he said.
