KRS nearly full due to rains in catchment areas

Bangalore, July 13: The K R Sagar, across the cauvery, was nearly filled up to the brim with the maximum level of 124.8 feet attained last night.

However the authorities have decided to retain the level at 124 feet. This morning the inflow had come down to around 40,193 cusecs, with the discharge being 35,785 cusecs. The level of the reservoir on the same day last year was 122.05 feet with the inflow being 9338 cusecs and outflow 4360 cusecs.

The catchment areas of the Cauvery saw some respite in the battering of monsoon rains since last fortnight.

The level at Kabini reservoir was being maintained at 2282.79 feet with the maximum level being 2284 feet. The inflow was 22034 cusecs and the discharge 20775 cusecs. The small earthen dam of Haranigi in Kodagu district was also just one feet away from the maximum level with the level standing at 2857.85 feet as against the full level of 2859 feet. The inflow was 5196 cusecs and discharge 3743 cusecs. The discharge from the Hemavathi had also been reduced to 20,500 cusecs from about 25,000 cusecs released during the last three days. this was mainly due to a reduced inflow into the reservoir at 19,000 cusecs.
