HDK to discuss terror with Manmohan on Jul 13
Bangalore, July 12: Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy whowill be on a two-day visit to New Delhi from today, would meet PrimeMinister Manmohan Singh to brief him about the investigations terroristplot allegedly involving three young men from Bangalore who weresuspected in the failed attack on Glasgow Airport last month.
The Chief Minister is scheduled to meet Dr Singh tomorrow andlater he would also have discussions with Home Minister Shivraj Patil.
The three persons, brothers Kafeel and Sabeel Ahmed and theircousin Mohammed Haneef are suspects in the terror attack in Scotlandand England.
Kafeel, suspected to be the driver of the blazing Jeep Charokeethat rammed into the Glasgow airport, was an aeronautical engineer.
He sustained 90 per cent burns during the terror act and isbattling for life in a military hospital in Scotland. Sabeel, hisyounger brother and a doctor, was held in Liverpool, while Haneef, alsoa doctor, was detained in Brisbane.
Official sources said apart from terrorist activities, MrKumaraswamy would also discuss the stepped up activities by naxalitesbelonging to the CPI(Maoists) group in Western ghat districts ofChikmagalur, Shimoga and Udupi. Police shot dead five persons,suspected to be naxalits, in an encounter on Tuesday.
While police claimed they were naxals, locals and activistsalleged that it was a fake encounter and four of the five killed werecivilians.
Home Minister M P Prakash would also accompany the Chief Ministerand the two leaders were expected to seek Central assistance to combatnaxalism in the state.
The Chief Minister was also expected to brief the Prime Ministerabout the floods that had hit the normal life in different parts ofNorth Karnataka during the current monsoon and seek aid to take uprehabilitation works.
