Karnataka Legislature Session to begin on July 5

Bangalore July 4: Voting by the electoral college comprising members of the Karnataka legislature to elect the new President, large acquisition of farmlands for creating special economic zones (SEZ) and building of new townships will dominate the Karnataka legislature session that begins here tomorrow.

The findings of the A T Ramaswamy house committee set up by Speaker Krishna to probe landgrabbing in and around Bangalore is also expected to generate heated arguments between the treasury benches and the opposition party leaders.

Though the committee was expected to finalise the report in a few weeks from now, its investigations so far had led to seizure of large scale lands from landgrabbers that had led to hot discussions in the public recently.

Besides, the 19-day session was likely to ensure passage of 19 bills and expected to discuss demands for grants pertaining to various departments during the 19 day session expected to go on till July 31.
