Another incursion bid foiled in Jammu and Kashmir
Srinagar, June 24: Troops foiled yet another infiltration bid in Jammu and Kashmir when they killed three militants near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector early today, police said.
Based on information about an infiltration attempt by 3-4 armed militants in the Uri sector, troops laid an ambush near the LoC.
Three heavily armed militants sneaked into this side from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) early this morning.
Soon after the intruders crossed the LoC to enter the Indian side at Gwalta in this border district's Uri area, the troops challenged them resulting in a fierce gun-battle, they added.
In the gunfight, police said the three infiltrators were killed.
Three AK rifles, nine AK magazines, 184 rounds of AK ammunition, two Chinese grenades and 16 Pakistan grenades were seized from the possession of the slain intruders, they added.
The identity of the infiltrators was being ascertained.
