Gujjars call for Delhi Bandh, police on high alert
New Delhi, June 4: Gurjjars, demanding a Scheduled Tribe status, have called for a bandh in the National Capital Region today.
Gurjjar community have threatened to block all national highways and roads connecting Delhi with neighbouring Uttar Pradesh and Haryana today.
Delhi Police is on high alert, especially in the Gurjjar-dominated border areas where protesters have blocked roads for the last five days.
Border Security Force personnel have also been deployed.
The police have advised commuters to avoid routes like the National Highway 2, MG Road, the Delhi-Noida border and the Delhi-Ghaziabad border.
