Cong functionary shot dead by Maoists

Ongole, Andhra Pradesh, Jan 23: A Youth Congress functionary in Prakasam district was gunned down by the outlawed CPI(Maoists) in Laxmipuram village near the Nallamala forest area, about 175 km away, today.

The ultras accosted A Ranga Reddy, Youth Congress president of Arthaveedu mandal when he went to the village outskirts to attend nature's call and shot him dead at point blank range, police sources said.

Laxmipuram is the native of Nallamala Forest Area Committee Maoist secretary Sagar, sources said, adding further details were awaited.
