MCD sealing: Traders' strike on Nov 10

New Delhi, Nov 9: Traders in the national capital called for a bandh tomorrow in protest against resumption of sealing of unauthorised commercial establishments in residential areas of the city.

All markets would be closed, claimed Mr Ramesh Khanna, Vice President of Confederation of All India Traders, which was spearheading the traders agitation against the sealing drive.

The traders would also organise a rally in the evening from Chandni Chowk to Delhi Assembly demanding an immediate stop to sealing and also that the authorities did not ''harass'' the confederation leaders.

CAIT General Secretary Praveen Khandelwal and three others had been arrested yesterday morning when they were protesting against the resumption of the drive near Ashram Chowk in South Delhi.

A 72-hour trade bandh was observed from October 30 to November 1 and then a one-day strike was observed on November 7 to create pressure on the government to get the Supreme court-ordered sealing drive called off. The strikes saw demonstrations as well as violent protests.
