Probe into E-mail on Mumbai blasts: Chouhan

Bhopal, July 19: The Madhya Pradesh government has started a thorough investigation into an e-mail sent by a Bhopal youth in the name of ''Lashkar-e-Kahar'' claiming responsibility for the Mumbai blasts, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said today.

''Police is maintaining a strict vigil on all shady characters.

Though a ban was imposed on Students Islamic Movement of India, a strict vigil was maintained on its workers. Police have been put on alert in the wake of Mumbai blasts'', he told reporters at the Vidhan Sabha press room.

Stern action will be taken against those indulging in terrorist or other unlawful activities, he said.

A youth, Sumit Tamrakar, has been arrested here today for sending the e-mail to media for creating sensation.

A bill to amend the M P Freedom of Religion Act will be presented in the Assembly's current session scheduled to conclude on July 28, Mr Chouhan said.

On the harassment of Christians, the Chief Minister said such harassment cases were very few in the state as compared to other states. However, strict action was taken whenever such cases were reported.

''There was no harassment and justice was meted out to all. There is no discrimination on the ground of religion or community'', he added.

On the ban on sacrificing animals by faithfuls, he said efforts would be made to reach at a consensus whether to continue the ban.

He said 'Samadhan-on-line' system would be implemented at all district headquarters by August 15 for redressing the grievances of people and it would be introduced at the lower level of administration later. He said 'one-day governance' for quick disposal of work relating to individuals like issuing of caste or income certificates on the same day itself was proving successful.
