PM hopes Hurriyat will soon join round-table

Srinagar, May 24: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today expressed the hope that the Hurriyat Conference will join the round-table conference at an ''appropriate time''.

In his opening remarks at the second round-table conference here, Dr Singh said the dialogue with the Hurriyat Conference so far was positive.

''They are prepared to take this forward and are ready to prepare specific proposals. I hope that at the appropriate time, they will also join the series of round-table conferences so that they can share their views with all of us,'' he added.

The Prime Minister said he had held discussions with the leaders of other organisations also, who had earlier kept away from the dialogue.

Dr Singh said at the close of the first round-table in New Delhi on February 25, many different views had been expressed.

''It was recognised that to resolve political issues, all forms of dialogue should continue,'' he added.
