Personalities like Jaya Bacchan fit for RS: SP

Lucknow, Mar 17: The ruling Samajwadi Party (SP), while refusing to comment on the disqualification of film actor Jaya Bacchhan from Rajya Sabha membership, today (Mar 17, 2006) claimed that the Upper House is only meant for personalities like Ms Bacchhan.

Senior party leader and UP revenue minister Ambika Choudhury said here that Ms Bacchhan is the fittest person to be in the Rajya Sabha.

Declining to comment on the disqualification, he said, ''we are studying the entire matter and will act accordingly". When asked whether the cine actor would be renominated for the RS, the SP leader said it was hypothetical, as the party will decide on it when the seat was notified vacant by the EC.

Earlier, chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and SP general secretary Amar Singh refused to oblige the mediapersons over the issue.
