Iraq's first Parliament since US invasion convenes

Baghdad, Mar 16: Iraq's first full-term Parliament since the United States (US) invasion convened today (Mar 16, 2006), three months after being elected in December.

The session was opened by Adnan Pachachi, the oldest member, in the heavily fortified Green Zone in Baghdad. It will be largely formal as talks on forming a national unity Government are still deadlocked.
