Seven Maoists surrender in Visakhapatnam district
Visakhapatnam (AP), Oct 3: A Maoist leader carrying a reward of Rs one lakh on his head and six members of the Maoists' militia surrendered before the Visakhapatnam rural police today.
The surrendered Maoist was identified as Marri Veera (25) alias Lievu, while the militia members were D Veranna Padal (22), K Chantibabu (29), P Ramamurthy (26), G Subba Rao (29), P Sumra (18) and L Dasarath (20), all natives of GK Veedhi mandal in the Visakhapatnam district.

Superintendent of Police Rahul Dev Sharma said Veera, who lost his parents at the age of 15, was recruited by the senior Maoist leader Gemmili Narayana Rao alias Jambri in 2008.
Veera was involved in at least seven encounters between the Maoists and the security forces, he said.
