AP Police Aims For Efficiency With Android App-Based Challans

To streamline the e-challan system and address irregularities, the AP police are set to introduce an advanced digital solution for traffic rule enforcement. This comprehensive solution will be facilitated through an android-based mobile application, aiming to enhance efficiency.

The recent exposure of a significant scam, involving the diversion of a staggering 36.5 crore rupees collected as fines through e-challans for traffic violations in the state, brought attention to the system's vulnerabilities. The scam, linked to the son-in-law of a former DGP, K Avinash, highlighted flaws in the routing of fine payments.

Instead of directly transferring the fine amounts from the online payment gateway to the AP police chief's account, the funds were illicitly diverted into Avinash's account using a cloned account setup by him. This revelation prompted a complete halt in traffic challans and administrative operations across the state's districts, leaving traffic police unable to issue e-challans.

An unnamed senior police officer emphasized that this scam's exposure had led to a standstill in traffic violation processing throughout most parts of the state. However, the officer expressed optimism about future plans to rectify the situation. The National Informatics Centre (NIC) is expected to offer a secure and cost-free portal, alongside technical assistance and a comprehensive mobile application. This initiative aims to reinstate and streamline the traffic challan system in the state.
