PM Narendra Modi visits Varanasi

PM Modi visits Varanasi
Varanasi, Nov 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Varanasi, his Lok Sabha constituency, on Friday morning. Modi is expected to adopt a village near the holy city under the Sansaad Adarsh Gram Yojana.

The prime minister is scheduled to address the public in Jayapur village, which he is likely to adopt as a model village.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will receive the prime minister in Varanasi. Security arrangements were tightened in the city where PM Modi was scheduled to visit last month but could not due to inclement weather conditions, formal sources said. He is set to stay in Varanasi for little over a day.

Varanasi is one of the two seats that Modi won in this year's Lok Sabha election, the other being Vadodara in his home state of Gujarat. He defeated Aam Aadmi Party's Arvind Kejriwal by a big margin from this constituency. He later vacated the Vadodara constituency.

Modi paid a thankgiving visit to the holy city soon after the electoral victory and offered prayers at the famous Kashi Vishwanath Temple and also took part in the Ganga Aarti.

On Saturday, the prime minister is expected to inaugurate several projects in his constituency, including one for the betterment of the local weavers.
