Vikasita Keralam: BJP Charts a Path Where Every Malayalee Lives With Confidence and Security

The Kerala BJP Manifesto 2026, released by Nitin Nabin, presents a vision of a "Vikasita Keralam" where every household experiences dignity, security and freedom from daily uncertainty. As Kerala heads to polls on April 9 with counting on May 4, the manifesto brings together a comprehensive system of support designed to ensure that no Malayalee has to worry about life's most basic needs I.e food on the table, access to quality healthcare, affordable electricity and reliable water. The approach is clear: welfare must not be selective or limited, but universal, reaching every home and securing every family.

At the centre of this vision is the idea of empowering households through direct and dependable support. The Bhakshya Arogya Suraksha Card stands out as a transformative step, placing ₹2,500 every month directly in the hands of women for essential food supplies and medicines. This amounts to ₹30,000 annually for every poor household, giving women the financial authority to prioritise nutrition and healthcare while allowing families to use their remaining income for education, savings and future security. It is positioned not just as assistance, but as a shift in decision-making power within households.

Healthcare is framed as a guarantee rather than a burden, with the expansion of Ayushman Bharat to cover every Malayalee. The promise ensures that no family will be pushed into poverty due to medical expenses, creating a system where financial protection and access to treatment go hand in hand. This is further strengthened by the plan to establish an AIIMS in Kerala, aimed at building world-class healthcare infrastructure within the state.

Reducing everyday expenses remains a consistent theme across the manifesto. Subsidies on domestic electricity are proposed to make power both affordable and uninterrupted, ensuring that every household has access to reliable energy without the strain of rising costs. This is complemented by the assurance of up to 20,000 litres of free water every month for every household. For years, even as progress was visible in several sectors, many Malayalee families continued to face uncertainty over basic water access, with over 32 lakh households still lacking reliable tap connections. This guarantee seeks to end that disparity and establish water security as a basic right.

The broader welfare net also includes a ₹3,000 monthly pension for poor women, widows and senior citizens above 70, offering consistent financial stability to vulnerable groups. Also, two free LPG cylinders each year for poor families will be distributed during Onam and Christmas that will help reduce cooking costs while recognising the cultural fabric of the state.

Alongside welfare, the manifesto outlines a forward-looking development agenda. The proposed high-speed railway corridor from Thiruvananthapuram to Kannur aims to transform connectivity across Kerala, reducing travel time and unlocking new opportunities in trade, tourism and employment. Healthcare infrastructure is set to expand with the proposed AIIMS, ensuring advanced treatment facilities are accessible within the state.

The document also addresses faith and governance, promising a greater role for devotees in managing temples such as Sabarimala Temple and Guruvayoor Temple. The Sabarimala Development Mission is aimed at improving infrastructure for pilgrims, while a time-bound CBI probe into the Sabarimala gold theft case underscores a focus on transparency and accountability.

Taken together, the Kerala BJP Manifesto 2026 lays out a model where essential needs are guaranteed, financial stress is reduced, and development reaches the last mile. It presents a state where every household is supported, every family is protected, and every Malayalee can move forward with confidence and stability.
