Thiruvananthapuram Airport Gets Bomb Threat

Thiruvananthapuram International Airport on Sunday received a bomb threat, after which, police and airport security started a search operation at all terminals. According to the reports, the bomb threat was received via email, which created a panic-like situation.

Thiruvananthapuram International Airport's Public Relations Officer (PRO) told the media that bomb disposal teams are on-site to ensure everyone's safety.

A day ago, police received a similar email threat targeting various hotels in the city, prompting extensive security measures.

"We are actively investigating the source of the emails," an investigating police officer said.

Taking cognizance of the back-to-back security threats, authorities have heightened security across the city, specially at public places like district collectorates, the Kerala High Court, and Revenue Divisional Offices, markets, etc.

Despite the serious tone of these messages, police investigations have so far dismissed the threats as hoaxes, finding no evidence of actual danger. The public has been advised to stay calm as authorities work diligently to trace the origin of these unsettling emails.

Security measures at the Thiruvananthapuram airport have been significantly increased in light of the recent bomb threat. This escalation in security protocols also comes after a series of bomb threats sent to various hotels in the state's capital on Saturday. Police forces, equipped with bomb disposal units and canine teams, conducted thorough checks at several hotels, including the centrally located Hilton Hotel. Although the threats resulted in no discovery of explosives, the continued occurrence of such incidents has put the city on high alert.
