After summer break, the schools in Kerala are prepping up for the reopening. As per the Pinarayi government's directive, the new academic year will commence on Monday, June 3.

To ensure the safety of students upon reopening, the Kerala government has issued a series of directives, including measures against drug activities within educational institutions.

At a recent high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, attended by ministers V Sivankutty, R Bindu, M B Rajesh, K Rajan, and P Rajeev, it was decided that preparations must be promptly completed, the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said.

Among the directives issued were instructions for schools to ensure the safety of their premises by conducting necessary repairs, obtaining building fitness certificates, and removing potential hazards such as trees, boards, electric posts, power cables, and hoardings.

Also, schools have been tasked with preventing the use and sale of intoxicating substances on their premises, with the Excise department ordered to conduct regular inspections of nearby shops.

Meanwhile, the pass percentage for this year's SSLC stands at 99.69 per cent, with 4,25,563 students qualifying for higher education.

In addition to the above, the CM directed all government, semi-government, public sector, and cooperative institutions to promptly display anti-drug posters.

Out of 4,27,153 students who appeared for the exams, 71,831 achieved an A+ grade in all subjects. This year's pass rate was marginally lower than last year's by just 0.01 percentage points, maintaining a high of 99.7 per cent.

Among the revenue districts, Kottayam attained the highest pass rate at 99.92 per cent, whereas Thiruvananthapuram recorded the lowest at 99.08 per cent. The educational district with the highest pass rate is Pala, boasting a perfect score of 100 per cent.

Malappuram educational district saw the highest number of students scoring A+ grades in all papers, with 4,964 students achieving this distinction.
