Oommen Chandy Death: Holiday Declared For Schools, Colleges In Kerala
All schools and colleges in Kerala will remain closed following the demise of senior Congress leader Oommen Chandy, who served as the chief minister of Kerala twice.
All government offices, schools, and colleges will remain shut on Tuesday. The state has also announced two-day mourning as a mark of respect to the late former chief minister.

Chandy, who had not been keeping well for quite some time, passed away at a private hospital at 4.25 am. He was undergoing treatment for cancer.
The Congress on Tuesday mourned the demise of its veteran leader, with party president Mallikarjun Kharge hailing unwavering commitment and visionary leadership of Chandy that left an indelible mark on Kerala's progress.

He will be remembered for his dedication and service to the people. Heartfelt condolences to the family and supporters," tweeted Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge.
"Deeply saddened by the passing of former Kerala CM and esteemed Congress leader, Oommen Chandy. A stalwart in politics, his contributions to Kerala's progress and development will always be remembered. A true statesman, he leaves behind a legacy that will inspire generations. Our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. May his soul rest in eternal peace," tweeted Congress.
"Deepest condolences to the family of Shri. Oommen Chandy. He was a pillar of the Congress party, a leader who dedicated his life to service and was deeply committed to the values we are fighting for today.We will all remember him with great respect and miss his wise counsel," tweeted Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
He was the chief minister twice for a total of seven years (2004-2006 and again from 2011-2016).
