One Year Later, New Crocodile Shocks Devotees At Anantha Padmanabhaswamy Temple

One year and a month following the demise of the herbivorous crocodile, Babia, at the Anantha Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Anantapur, Kasaragod district of Kerala, another crocodile has been sighted, causing surprise among the devotees.

This new crocodile has been observed at the Ananthapura Anantapadmanabhaswamy Temple near Kumble, succeeding the one that was historically shot by the British. Babia, the previous crocodile, had been revered as a deity in the temple Kalyani for 75 years and passed away on October 9, 2022.

One Year Later, New Crocodile Shocks Devotees At Anantha Padmanabhaswamy Temple

The appearance of a healthy crocodile, one year and one month after Babia's demise, has sparked astonishment among the worshippers.

Babia, the crocodile, held a unique status as the divine crocodile in the Anantapadmanabha temple. Devotees offered food to Babia as part of the daily puja, placed in the lake within the temple premises. Throughout its 75 years of worship, Babia did not cause any harm or distress to anyone.

It must be noted that the crocodile had spent a significant amount of time in a cave located on the left side of the temple. After the afternoon puja, offerings were presented, and the crocodile was summoned. Unfortunately, after being worshipped for 75 years, Babia passed away last year.
