Kerala Landslides: Several Trains Cancelled Due To Waterclogging
Southern Railways on Tuesday partially cancelled three trains between Vallathol Nagar and Wadakanchery due to severe waterlogging. These cancellations were made as a precaution to ensure passenger safety, according to an official statement.
As per news agency, stationary watchman stopped train no. 16526 between Valathol Nagar-Wadakancheri due to heavy rain and water flow on track. The video clip showed water inundating the tracks.

The following trains are partially cancelled today due to heavy water logging:
1) Train No. 16305 Ernakulam - Kannur Intercity Express will be short terminated at Thrissur.
2) Train No. 16791 Tirunelveli - Palakkad Palaruvi Expres will be short-terminated at Aluva.
3) Train No. 16302 Thiruvananthapuram - Shoranur Venad Express will be short-terminated at Chalakkudy.
4) Train No. 12678 Ernakulam - KSR Bengaluru Intercity Superfast Express scheduled to leave Ernakulam at 09.10 hrs on 30.07.2024 is rescheduled to leave at 12.10 hrs due to water logging between Valathol Nagar and Wadakanchery (Late by 3 hours).
5) Train No 12076 Thiruvananthapyram - Kozhikode Jan Shatabdi Express that left Thuruvananthapuram Central at 5.55 hours on 30.07.2024 is short terminated at Ernakulam. The train is partially cancelled between Ernakulam and Kozhikode.
6) Train No 12075 Kozhikode - Thiruvananthapuram Jan Shatabdi Express leaving Kozhikode at 13.45 hours on 30.07.2024 will originate from Ernakulam. The train is partially cancelled between Kozhikode and Ernakulam.
Meanwhile, the death toll rose to 23 in the landslides that hit Kerala's hilly Wayanad district on Tuesday, Health Minister Veena George said.
Speaking to reporters, she said 23 bodies have been recovered so far and were kept in various hospital morgues. According to Wayanad district authorities, among the fatalities, four people, including a child, were killed in Chooralmala town.
Also, a one-year-old child from a Nepali family died in Thondernad village. Authorities also reported that three bodies, including that of a five-year-old, were found on the banks of a river near Pothukal village. Hundreds are feared to be trapped, though this has not been confirmed by the authorities.
