Kerala: KSU calls for education bandh today
Thiruvananthapuram, July 4: The Kerala Students Union (KSU) has called for a state-wide education bandh on Wednesday following the lathi charge on its workers who had taken out a march to secretariat.
The agitation was waged to raise various demands, including a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the Jesna Maria James missing case, fix government fee for courses offered by the Pariyaram Medical College and to appoint a Vice Chancellor and Pro Vice Chancellor at the University of Kerala without further delay.
In the lathi charge, KSU state president KM Abhijith, general secretary Nabeel Kallambalam and 10 others had sustained injuries. All the people injured were rushed to the Government Medical College where All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary and former chief minister Oommen Chandy visited the KSU leaders admitted to the medical college hospital.
