US To Take Control of Strait of Hormuz ? Trump's Big Claim Sparks Tensions, Iran Hits Back

Tensions between Iran and the United States have been intensified after the US President Donald Trump claimed that Washington could take control of the Strait of Hormuz, over which the whole chaos stands.

In an exclusive talk with Fox News, President Trump suggested that the US is likely to become the key security provider for the waterway. However, on the other hand Iran straightforwardly rejected the remarks saying that it will take care of the Strait and its national interest.

Trump Says US Could Become 'Guardian' of the Strait

In an interview Trump said that the United States is on the verge of taking over the Strait Of Hormuz. He added that Iran would not be able to stop such a move and that will maintain a permanent presence in the region.

Trump said the United States would "keep the strait" and "probably run it," adding that Washington could become the "guardian" or even the "guardian angel" of the waterway.

Iran Hits Back at Trump's Comments

On the other hand Iran in its quick remark rejected any such suggestion. Dr. Mohammad Mokhber, an adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader and a member of the Expediency Discernment Council, said the Strait of Hormuz is of immense economic and security importance to Iran.

Sharing his views on the social media Makhber compared the current situation with the Battle of Uhud, saying Iran would continue to defend the waterway to safeguard its sovereignty and national interests. He added that the safety of the Strait is important to ensure that Iranian ships are never forced to depend on or pay any rival nation.

One must know that the Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's busiest maritime routes. The Gulf Of Oman and Arabian Sea is connected with the Persian Gulf making it a key passage of energy supplies.
